There's a profit leak that will never show up on your P&L. It doesn't have a line item. It doesn't send you a notification. But it is costing you, consistently, quietly, and in some cases, significantly. In this episode, Lisa Marie breaks down the real financial cost of invisibility and makes the case that waiting until you feel ready is one of the most expensive decisions you can make as a business owner.
What You'll Learn:
- Why every time you don't post, pitch, or show up is a financial decision with a real consequence
- The four masks fear wears that keep brilliant, capable women from being fully visible
- How to calculate the conservative dollar cost of your own invisibility
- Why confidence is not a prerequisite for visibility. It's the result of it
- Three practical moves to turn your visibility into a revenue strategy
- How Lisa Marie's own decision to stop waiting opened a revenue stream that changed things for her

Welcome back to Cash and Sass, the podcast where we ditch the shame, talk real numbers, and build bold, bankable wealth without sacrificing who we are. I'm your host, Lisa Marie, Fractional CFO, Money Mentor, and the sassy wealth queen behind Transcendent Wealth Co. And if you're ready to scale with strategy, own your power, and finally feel wealthy in every sense of the word, then you're in the right place. Today we're talking about a profit leak that does not show up on a profit and loss statement. It does not show up in your expense report. It does not have a line item anywhere in your financial tracking, but it is costing you, and it's costing you consistently, quietly, and in some cases significantly. The profit leak is invisibility. This episode is called Hiding is Expensive, the financial case for showing up before you're ready. And if you have been waiting until your website is perfect, your messaging is tighter, your confidence is higher, or you have it all figured out before you fully put yourself out there. Today we're going to talk about what that waiting is actually costing you in real dollars. All right, let's get into it. Let me start by reframing something. Every time you do not post, that is just as a decision. Every time you do not pitch yourself for the speaking opportunity, that is a decision. Every time you do not send the email, go live, have the sales conversation, raise your hand, or put your offer in front of people who need it, that is a decision. And like every financial decision, it has a consequence. The consequence of invisibility is invisible revenue. Money that was available to come into your business from the person who would have seen your post and reached out. From the stage, you would have been booked on from the client who is actively looking for exactly what you do right now and cannot find you because you're not showing up. That money does not come in. You do not feel it as a loss in that moment, though. There is no notification that says, you just missed a $3,000 client because you did not post today. The absence is silent, and the silent losses are the hardest ones to take seriously. But let me ask you to do a quick calculation in your head. If showing up consistently, posting, speaking, pitching, selling, being visible in spaces where your ideal clients actually are brought you even one additional client per month, what would that be worth to your business over a year? Now multiply your average client value by 12. That's a conservative estimate of what invisibility is costing you. And for most of the women I work with, that number is significant enough to change the conversation entirely. Now, let me name the specific things that keep brilliant, capable, deeply qualified women from showing up fully because it is never really about readiness. It's about fear. And fear wears a lot of different masks. The first mask is perfectionism. I'm so guilty of this. Perfectionism tells you that you cannot go live until the lighting is right. You cannot watch the offer until the sales page is perfect. You cannot post until you have the exact right words. You cannot pitch for the speaking opportunity until you have a fully polished speaking reel. And so you wait and you refine and you tweak and you prepare. And meanwhile, someone less qualified than you, someone who knows less, has less experience, and has less to offer, is out there showing up imperfectly and signing clients because they decided done was better than perfect. Perfectionism is not a standard. It is a high hiding strategy. And it is one of the most socially acceptable excuses for staying small that exists. The second mask is fear of judgment. What will people think? What if someone disagrees? What if I say the wrong thing? What if the people from my old life see me showing up like this and think I've gotten too big for my britches? Fear of judgment keeps more women entrepreneurs invisible than almost anything else. Because visibility means being seen, and being seen means being available for criticism. And if you grew up in an environment where being too visible, too loud, or too ambitious was unsafe, your nervous system is going to resist showing up every single time. Now, here is what I need you to hear though. The people who are judging you are not paying your bills. They are not sitting in your bank account, and they are certainly not the clients who need what you have to offer. The third mask is imposter syndrome. Who am I to talk about this? There are people more experienced than me, more credentialed than me, who have been doing this longer. What makes me think I have something worth saying? Let me answer that directly. You lived experience, your specific journey, your unique perspective on your area of expertise that is not that, y'all, is not replicable. Nobody else has your combination of knowledge, story, and approach. Just like nobody has my same, my combination of knowledge, story, and approach. And y'all, there is someone out there right now who will only be reached by you, not by the more credentialed person, not by the more established person, by you showing up exactly as you are. Imposter syndrome is lying to you. And every day you believe it, revenue walks out the door. The fourth mask is waiting until you have it all figured out. And this is one of the ones I'm I'm guilty about. I will start posting consistently when I know exactly who my audience is. I will pitch for speaking when I have my signature talk mailed. I will go after bigger clients when I feel more confident. The readiness you are waiting for does not come before the action. It comes because of it. Confidence is not a prerequisite for visibility. Confidence is the result of visibility, of showing up, doing the thing, surviving it, and doing it again. You do not get ready and then show up. You show up and then get ready. So I want to get personal here because I think it matters. I have always been good at what I do. The knowledge, the strategy, the ability to help women transform their relationship with money and build real wealth. That has been there. Y'all, but for a long time, I was not fully claiming the space I deserved to be in. Speaking is something that was always in me, and I knew it. And for a while, I circled around it. I told myself I would pursue it more seriously when the timing was right, when everything else was more established, when I felt more ready. And then I made a decision to stop waiting and I started, I started to claiming it. I expanded intentionally into speaking. I started positioning myself as an international speaker, not just as a fractional CFO, not just as a podcast host, but as someone who takes this message to stages. And that decision opened a revenue stream that I have not, that had I not fully stepped into it, it wouldn't have been there. A stream that does not just add income, it amplifies everything else. Because every stage expands your reach, your credibility, and your ability to serve more people at a higher level. I did not wait until I had everything figured out. Honestly, I still don't have everything figured out. The decision not waiting, though, created the path. Now, I'm still on that path, of course, but that's how visibility works. You do not find the door by standing back and studying it. You find it by walking toward it. So I want you to ask yourself, what revenue stream, what opportunity, what version of your business are you not fully stepping into yet? Because you are still waiting to feel ready. Okay. I want to give you three moves to make your visibility a revenue strategy. There's a practical action because that's what I do here, right? That's what we do here. So step one, identify your highest leverage visibility channel and commit to it. Not all visibility is equal. Showing up everywhere inconsistently is less effective than showing up in one place consistently and with intention. Where does your ideal client actually spend time? Where have you gotten the most traction when you have shown up? Where do you show up most naturally and authentically? Pick that place, commit to a specific frequency, not I'll try to post more, but I will show up here three times a week and then hold it, not until you feel like it, but as a non-negotiable. Consistency is the part of visibility that most people skip. And this is something I've even had to work on. They show up in bursts and then disappear and then wonder why they're not building momentum. And y'all, momentum requires showing up even when, especially when you do not feel like it. It's just like working out. You work out even when you don't feel like it. Step two, identify one visibility opportunity you have been avoiding and pursue it. A podcast pitch, a speaking application, a collaboration you've been meaning to reach out about, a live video you've been putting off. For me, it's my videos that I've been doing, I've done more of, and I'm about to record more of. I'm going to actually post them. See, I'm holding myself accountable. Okay? It could be a sales email that you drafted and never sent. Pick one and do it this week. Not perfectly, just do it. Because action is the only thing that breaks the hiding pattern. Not thinking about action, not planning to take action, the actual doing of the thing you have been avoiding. Step three, connect your visibility directly to a revenue goal. This is the cash and SAS move. Stop thinking about visibility as a marketing activity and start tracking it as a financial one. Decide that your visibility goal this month is connected to a specific revenue number. Every post, every email, every conversation, every stage, it is all in service of a financial outcome, not just engagement, not just likes, revenue. When you connect your showing up to your money, it stops being optional because you already decided that hiding is expensive and you're done paying that price, right? Y'all, here's what I know visibility without a financial strategy behind it is just noise. And a financial strategy without visibility is just a plan sitting in a document that nobody sees. The two have to work together. And getting them to work together, understanding how your showing up connects directly to your revenue, your pricing, your offers, and your wealth building. That is exactly the kind of work we do in my two-week Money Moves Voxer coaching. For two full weeks, you get direct access to me through Voxer. We look at your business holistically, where you are showing up, where you are not, what it is costing you, and how to connect your visibility directly to your financial goals. We then build a plan that makes your showing up count every single time. Because you have something worth saying, you have something worth selling, and the world cannot find what you will not let them see.
